Waldhaus – the private brewery.
Waldhaus private brewery – that’s more than 190 years and four generations of family and brewing tradition. We continue to uphold the philosophy of our brewery founder Johann Schmid: smaller but better.
This means that we still hold the reins in our handy. The satisfaction and wishes of our customers determine our actions. We preserve our tradition just as much as we look to the future.
Like our ancestors, we see ourselves first and foremost as a producer of finely hopped beer specialities. At the same time, we are an employer, environmentalist and promoter of the regional economy. We feel personally committed to large Black Forest family and our environment. Because tradition is not just about age. It also means acting responsibly and with a forward-looking approach in line with our core values.
We know that we are at least as dependent on our region as it is on us. As a regional brewery, it is our duty to treat our environment in the Southern Black Forest with care. We produce our beers with natural electricity, mainly produced in hydroelectric power stations. We have also installed a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 458.4 kWp (kilowatt peak) on the roof of our logistic centre. At the same time, we only use natural ingredients for our products, strictly in accordance with the German purity law of 1516.
However, our employees have always been our greatest asset. After all, they are the ones who make Waldhaus a little bit better every day. We are very proud of this and grateful for it. We would therefore like to be a fair and reliable partner to all of them at all times.
And the continued existence of the brewery has also been in the planning stage. Janina and Yannik Schmid, the children of the head of the brewery, Dieter Schmid, are the fifth generation and the youngest members of our large Waldhaus family. They already know where they want to work when they grow up: in dad’s brewery.
