One of the central tasks of the non-profit German Agricultural Society is to promote the quality of food. The DLG Food Test Centre regularly carries out quality tests in numerous food areas.
The DLG tests are objective and independent. The product tests are carried out by experts on the basis of current quality standards and recognised methods in the interests of active costumer protection. The focus of these tests in the examination of the sensory quality of food (colour, appearance, consistency, smell and taste). Other important criteria include preparation tests, packaging and labelling tests as well chemical, microbiological and physical analyses in accredited laboratories. The annual quality tests honour the best with DLG awards in gold, silver and bronze.
