The most expensive project in the history, the construction of a 4.600 m2 logistic centre with a total volume of 50.800 m3, was officially inaugurated with an open day.

1997

Dieter Schmid takes over the brewery

Since 1997, Dieter Schmid, Helmar Schmid’s only son, is the director of the private brewery. Dieter Schmid has a diploma in business administration and a diploma in master brewer. So, he brings the heart of a businessman, but also the heart of a brewer into the family brewery. The continuation of the brewery is already being planned for the fifth generation. Janina & Yannik Schmid already know where they want to work later: In dad’s brewery!

1969

Handing over to Helmar Schmid

30 years later, his son Helmar Schmid took over the Waldhaus private brewery with an annual output of 10.000 hectolitres. He led the brewery and its beers to today’s success.

In the winter of 1942, the brewery doesn’t let the masses of snow get it down.

1939

Transmission to Friedrich Schmid

In 1939, Johann Schmid handed over the brewery to his eldest son Friedrich. At that time, the brewery had an annual output of 3.500 hectolitres.

1905

Getting ice at the ice pond

In the winter of 1905, the ice of the ice pond was still decisive for the cooling of the beers in the brewery’s cellar.

Johann Schmid

In 1894, Johann Schmid from Bannholz bought the brewery, the restaurant and the agriculture. Therefore, he is the founding father of the Schmid brewing family. He introduced the first and the most important principle: ‘Smaller better’. This philosophy has been tradition for four generations and is still the foundation stone of our business today.

1846

The fire

Already 13 years later, the entire brewery was destroyed by a fire, caused by a lightning strike. In the same year, the reconstruction began 200m further south, at the current location of the Waldhaus private brewery.
