The craft beer scene from the USA is gradually becoming popular in Germany, but what is craft?
Craft – craftmanship – doesn’t necessarily mean a small copper kettle or working by hand, it’s more about the fun of brewing and the great beers – in other words, the philosophy of breweries.
In order to do justice to this dynamic development of the craft beer scene, the Meininger association has launched Germany’s first international Craft Beer Award. The aim of the competition is to promote the quality and marketing of the beers entered. An independent, neutral and professional assessment of the craft beers by an international jury guarantees the serious and professional organisation of the competition.
250 different beers were submitted for the first Craft Beer Award 2014 and they were tasted in 24 different categories, each tailored to the respective style.
